What are the biggest eSports and how do you play?
Many of the world’s largest eSports are sports simulation games, such as FIFA, F1, and more loosely Rocket League. However, there’s a lot more to eSports than just simulating real sports. Battle games such as Counter-Strike, Fortnite, League of Legends and Dota 2 are some of the larger ones in the genre. These games can fall into two categories, either first-person shooters or battle arena titles, which can either be fought between individuals or as teams.
Two teams of five face-off in an arena known as ‘Summoner’s Rift’. The aim of the game is to destroy the other team’s ‘Nexus’ (their base), while defending their own from the other team.
A typical match can last anywhere between 20 minutes and an hour, with different teams often coming together from across the map to engage in tactical battles to destroy the opposition Nexus.
FunPlus Phoenix, G2 Esports, T1, Excel esports, Team Liquid, Fnatic and Cloud 9 are some of the most successful teams from recent years.
Much like League of Legends, Dota 2 (Defence of the Ancients 2) sees two teams of five going head-to-head, trying to destroy each other’s bases. However, Dota 2 is arguably the more tactical of the two.
A Dota 2 tournament, called ‘The International’, offered a mouth-watering $34,330,068 in prize money back in 2019, so it’s definitely worth polishing up your video gaming skills.
Battle arena games are great if you enjoy the tactical elements of a large brawl, but if getting right into the action is more your thing, first-person shooters should be right up your alley, and truly offer some edge-of-your-seat gaming experiences.
Games of CS:GO involve two teams, split into terrorists and counter-terrorists, go head-to-head in 30 two-minute rounds. The terrorist team must plant a bomb at several sites, while the counter-terrorists must do their best to defend them.
For CS:GO we offer markets such as Match Result, Map Winners, Round Handicaps and Pistol Round Winner (a round where players are only able to fight with the aid of a pistol).
The biggest Counter-Strike league in the world is the ESEA Pro League.
There are many more eSports games than those we’ve mentioned here, in an array of different genres, such as:
